Algar Waterfalls: How to Get There, Price and Advice
All the information you need to visit the Algar Waterfalls (Fonts d’Algar in Valencian), an extraordinary natural landscape nestled in the mountains.
In this natural park located 1.5 kilometres along the Algar river canyon, the limestone karst rock has given rise to natural formations such as waterfalls and pools of water, where you can bathe in the midst of nature.
It should be clarified that although the water is totally transparent and uncontaminated, the temperature is cold, so the ideal time for bathing in the natural pools is in summer. During the rest of the year bathing is reserved for the bravest, although you can still enjoy the scenery, walk along the canyon’s paths and take nice pictures without too many people.
There are a total of seven natural swimming pools of varying depths (some are ideal for children). All are marked with the name Toll. The two main waterfalls are Toll de la Caldera and Toll del Baladre.
At the top is the Arboretum, a garden with plants typical of the Mediterranean area.
There are also toilets and a campsite with a bar and barbecue if you want to spend the night. If you have a pet, you can bring it in the low season period from 16 September to 14 June, it must be leashed and cannot swim in the river.
Where the Algar Waterfall is located
The Algar Waterfall is located in the province of Alicante, just 15 kilometres from the city of Benidorm and 60 kilometres from the city of Alicante. They are located three kilometres from the village of Callosa de Ensarriá, where the river Algar flows through.
How to get to the Algar waterfall
Getting to the Algar waterfall from Benidorm is very easy. You can take the CV-70 road to the town of Polop and then take the turn-off to Callosa de Ensarriá on the CV-715 road to reach the springs.
Another option is to take the AP7 motorway to Altea La Vieja and then the CV-755 to Callosa de Ensarriá.
Caution should be exercised when driving at low speed, as the roads run through the mountains and are winding and winding.
In the area around the entrance to the Algar waterfall there are many car parks. Only one is free, which is located 700 metres from the entrance to the fountains and on the way up, next to the Tourist Office.
There are a number of paid car parks which vary in price from three to five euros depending on the season, and restaurants also have places to leave your car, but you have to eat on the premises for it to be free.

How much does the entrance fee to the Algar waterfall cost 2025?
The prices for access to the Algar fountains vary according to the season:
- From 15 June to 15 October: adults € 5, children from 4 to 10 years old € 2 and children under 3 years old free.
- From 16 October to 14 June: adults € 4, children from 4 to 10 years old € 2 and children under 3 years old free.
Tickets can be purchased directly on site at the ticket office or in advance on the official website of the Algar waterfall.
During the summer or Easter season it is advisable to purchase tickets in advance as the crowds are very high.
Visit the Algar waterfall with children
It is perfectly possible to go to the Algar waterfall with children, they will surely enjoy it even more than an adult. They will love the surroundings with waterfalls and the canyon through which the river flows, as well as being able to swim in some of the shallow natural pools in the park, always under parental supervision.
Please note that lifeguard service is only available during high season and Easter week. In addition, due to the river bed and the stones present in the area, it is necessary to wear clogs to avoid hurting your legs on the edge of the rocks.
As for the baby carriage, the circuit is not prepared to carry it as there are many stairs, so it is essential to carry it if the child is very small.
Next to the picnic area there are playground equipment for children to have fun before or after lunch.
Another attraction for children is the DinoPark, located just a few kilometres away, a perfect park themed around dinosaurs, with life-size robotic and static representations in the middle of the landscape.
Where to eat? Restaurants in Algar waterfalls
There are five restaurants in the Algar waterfalls to eat at. The closest one, which is located next to the main waterfall, is Les Fonts Restaurant with a terrace with beautiful views next to one of the natural pools. The price of the menu in this restaurant varies between 20 and 30 euros and includes the entrance to the Algar waterfalls.
At the entrance to the park are the other four restaurants: El Valle, Casa Marcos, El Algar de Don Joan and Casa Federico, most with river views, children’s playground and Valencian dishes based on rice and paella. It is important to book in advance if you plan to visit the fountains in the height of the summer season, as the restaurants are full every day.
Is it possible to eat at the Fuentes del Algar?
If you want to bring your own food, you can only eat in the picnic area near the Arboretum. There are toilets and vending machines for water, soft drinks and snacks. Glass containers and alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the premises.
