Where the town of Chulilla is located
Chulilla is one of the most beautiful villages in the province of Valencia, located about 60 kilometres from Valencia. The best way to get there is to take the CV-35 road to Losa del Obispo and then the CV-394 to Chulilla.

Where to stay in Chulilla
If you plan to spend two days in Chulilla (ideal for the route of the hanging bridges, blue puddle and reaching the top of the castle), then you will have to spend the night in the town or nearby. Here are our recommendations for where to stay in Chulilla:
- Casa Rural La Rocha: one block from the square of Chulilla and with fabulous views of the mountains from the terrace as well as from the room.
- La Muela Apartamentos: close to hiking trails and with views of the village or the mountains. They are fully equipped for a relaxing weekend.
Where the hanging bridges route starts in Chulilla
The route can be started from two different points:
- One is from the car park located in the Santa Bárbara urbanisation. The car park is paved and signposted. If you go with a large motorhome for a weekend there will be little space to park it, as the parking spaces are marked out for cars.
- The other option is 500 metres from this car park, following the road towards Losa del Obispo. You can park on the side of the road and from there there is an entrance to the hanging bridges route. This is the best option for motorhomes.

How long does it take to do the hanging bridges route in Chulilla?
The complete route to the Loriguilla reservoir, called Senda de los Pantaneros, is about 8 kilometres long and can take approximately four hours to complete.
If you only want to go to the suspension bridges, the route is about 3.5 kilometres and takes about an hour and a half to complete. The return is the same way back.
What is the route over the suspension bridges in Chulilla like?
The trail starts at the highest point, where the Carrucha viewpoint is located. From here there are fantastic views of the Turia river canyon, with its rocky walls over 70 metres high and the clear, turquoise water of the river below.
The path then descends steeply downwards, skirting the cliff until it reaches the Calderones spot, where there is a table to sit in the shade. Afterwards, the path climbs up to the first of the suspension bridges.
To access the first suspension bridge you have to descend several steps down a staircase over the rock. The first bridge is suspended about 15 metres above the riverbed.

To access the second bridge you only have to walk a few metres along the river bank. This bridge is suspended about 5 metres above the riverbed. In both cases the length of the suspension bridges exceeds 20 metres.

If you want to do the whole Senda de los Pantaneros, you only have to continue the route from the second suspension bridge to the Loriguilla reservoir. Attention: it is currently not possible to access the reservoir or the reservoir car park, as the area has been fenced off.
Is it possible to do the route of the hanging bridges of Chulilla with children?
The trail is of low difficulty, so it can easily be done with children over five years old. It should be noted that the first section is the most dangerous, as it is downhill and along a cliff, so you should pay attention and go slowly.
The other section to pay attention to is the stairs leading down to the suspension bridges. The steps are uneven.
If you want to do the route of the hanging bridges of Chulilla with babies or children under five years old, it is best to carry them. It is not possible to do it with a pushchair.

Tips for the route of the hanging bridges of Chulilla
- Bring comfortable shoes, suitable clothing and a bottle of water.
- In summer you should wear a hat because much of the trail is not shaded.
- It is best to avoid weekends because of the crowds, but if you do the route on a weekend or public holiday it is best to start early in the morning, when there are fewer people doing the route.
- If you go with children, it is best to do the route to the suspension bridges and back, as it is about five kilometres more to do the whole route to the reservoir and the best part for them is the suspension bridges.

What other routes are there to do in Chulilla?
The other best known route to do in Chulilla is the Charco Azul, which runs along the lower part of the canyon next to the river Turia.
The Charco Azul route is shorter and much easier than the hanging bridges. Plus, there is plenty of shade and places to sit and rest. The final prize is the impressive turquoise water pool with a floating wooden platform where many people go to take photos. You can even swim there, although the water temperature is cold.
If you go on a weekend, you’ll probably have to wait to get that much-desired photo.
The blue puddle can also be seen from above near the viewpoint of La Carrucha, at the beginning of the hanging bridges route.

Other things to do in Chulilla
The village itself is very pretty, nestled on one of the edges of the Turia canyon. Some places to do in Chulilla are as follows:
- Our Lady of the Angels Parish Church
- Castle of Chulilla: at the top of the village. Although it is not in a good state of conservation, reaching the top allows you to see the town from above and the Turia canyon. The castle has audio guides, which can be accessed with a QR code that you just enter.
- The narrow streets of the village: Chulilla itself has a great charm with white painted houses and numerous viewpoints.
