4 Things to Do in Anna Valencia in One Day
Situated just a few kilometres from the city of Xátiva, there are many attractions to do in Anna Valencia in a day, especially for nature and hiking.
Anna is a small village in the province of Valencia where water is the protagonist. In its fountains, gorges, waterfalls and the small lake, this element is the primordial one and the one that has given life to the place throughout its history.
In addition, the historic centre contains vestiges of the period of Arab domination, mainly present in the Palace of the Counts of Cervellón, also known as the little Alhambra.

1) Lake Anna: how to get there, access fees and accommodation
Just one kilometre from the access to the village, the lake of Anna or the Albufera of Anna is a dream place. It is a water mirror that is not very large, but it is a haven of tranquillity in the middle of nature. Surrounded by lots of shade thanks to the pine and banana trees and with the presence of small animals such as geese and ducks, it is a spectacular place to spend the morning or afternoon with children.
The site has a history that goes back several centuries and was used during the Arab period as a reservoir to irrigate the crops near the site.
Lake Anna is equipped with everything you need for a day out with children and even to stay: it has a children’s playground, two swimming pools, picnic area, beach bars, restaurants, campsite open from April to October, barbecue and you can even take a boat ride on the water mirror. So don’t forget your swimming costume.
It should be noted that it is not possible to swim in Lake Anna, but only in one of the two pools mentioned above. The one by the lake with a waterfall is the most beautiful.

There is a fee for access to Lake Anna. The prices are as follows:
- Over 16 years old all day: 3 euros
- Children under 16 years old all day: 1,50 euros
- Over 16 years old only in the afternoon: 1.5 euros
- Children under 16 only in the afternoon: 1 Euro
2) Things to do in Anna Valencia, route of the three waterfalls
The route of the three waterfalls is one of the must-see attractions in Anna. The path runs along the banks of the river Anna and it is advisable to do it with children over the age of six, as the terrain is difficult due to its steep slopes, you have to cross a bridge over the river and the last part is not signposted.
The route takes about an hour to complete and has four stops:
- Gorgo Gaspar: this is the first waterfall you will come across on the route. Formed by the water from the Albufera de Anna, it was previously used to create a waterwheel whose mission was to generate hydraulic energy for the industries located there.
- Ruins of the Miguelín Factory: an old textile factory that is now abandoned. It used energy from the Gorgo Gaspar for its operation. Next to the old factory is the picnic area.
- Viking Waterfall
- Cascada del Salto or Gorgo Escalera: the last waterfall is the most impressive. Located in an impressive canyon on the river Anna, the road to get there has a steep slope that is overcome by a staircase of 136 steps. Here you can bathe in the pool of water formed by the waterfall.

3) Palace of the Counts of Cervellón
One of Anna’s hidden gems is this palace, known as the little Alhambra. The palace of the Counts of Cervellón was founded in the 12th century by the Arabs and its interior contains precious details from that period, such as the arches, the courtyard with its fountain and the hall, all decorated with ceramics and plasterwork. The ceilings are really beautifully decorated.
During the early 17th century it was refurbished and part of the Borja family lived there. The interior currently houses the Ethnological Museum and the Water Museum. For us, the palace was a real surprise.
To visit the palace you must book in advance by contacting the tourist office in Anna as places are limited and the visit is guided. This can be done via whastapp or telephone at 616551877, or by email at anna@touristinfo.net. Please indicate the planned date of the visit, number of people, name and contact telephone number. Once the booking confirmation has been received, you will be able to access the requested day.
The entrance fee to the Palace of the Counts of Cervellon is 4 euros for people over 13 years old and 1 euro for children from 4 to 12 years old.
4) Gorgo Catalán, other places to do in Anna Valencia
As mentioned above, Anna is characterised by water as its main element. The Gorgo Catalan is located outside the circuit of the 3 waterfalls. It is a small lake that comes from the waters of the Fuente Negra. It is a natural pool with a small waterfall and picnic area, ideal for relaxing and even bathing in the area. Of course, the water is always quite cold.

- Casa Rural Mirador del Salto: located in the village of Chella, just 4 kms from Anna, is in the middle of nature and has spectacular views of the Salto de Chella waterfall and the mountains from the terrace. Very good facilities and shared kitchen.
